Area Info
Red Feather Lakes is located in the Northern Colorado Rockies, surrounded by Roosevelt National forest with sparking streams, lush mountain meadows and stately peaks.
The area was first settled around 1900 by loggers and ranchers. Occasionally, a deserted homestead can by seen at the edge of a meadow or half hidden in the aspen and pine forest.
The town of Red Feather Lakes was developed in the 1920s when the automobile began to make once isolated mountain areas easily accessible.
Today it is a popular vacation spot with fishing and hiking among the many activities available.
The town’s dozen or so shops and cafes, along with a medical clinic, library and three churches, provide residents and visitors with the necessities of city life without the accompanying noise and confusion.
